Nine floors stepped into the cliff, above its own cove.

Built in 1972 and terraced so that every apartment faces the water. Ours is the top one.

01 — The apartment

Small, and built like it matters.

Terrazzo poured and polished. Handleless joinery run wall to wall. Lighting and blinds on KNX. Switchable glass between the bathroom and the room. A terrace that opens straight off the living space, with nothing between it and the Atlantic.

It is 40 m² of habitable space, and the terrace works as a second room. If you want eighty square metres, this is not it. If you want somewhere considered, on a coast most visitors drive past, it might be.

The wall between the bathroom and the room is switchable — clear when you are alone, opaque when you are not. The control below is real; try it.

The coast here is volcanic and largely empty. The golden postcard beach is a mile and a half along, and busier.

A biosphere reserve one way, a capital the other.

Anaga — UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, laurel forest, knife-edge ridges — starts where the road outside ends. Santa Cruz is ten kilometres the other way.

Straight-line distances from 28.5157° N · 16.1728° W — except Las Gaviotas, which is walked, on the coastal path. Driving takes longer on a coast road, and you should hear that here rather than on arrival.
